YoYoFactory Avant Garde 2?

Saw this floating around Facebook this morning.  Apparently this is a prototype of the new Avant Garde by YoYoFactory.

I can’t wait to try it!

Wow, that’s a whole bunch of ideas that other people had. Pretty sweet.

Back in 1993, there was a horror movie called ‘Mans Best Friend’. The tag line was 1 nature created it…. science perfected it… Man could not control it(or some close to that).

The large Mastiff dog had the mind of a Human, the climbing abilities of a big cat and the eyesight of an Eagle. And he aws 1 Badd Creature.

All 3 yoyos, the: Chief,, Zeus and the Avant; they are ALL very very Good yoyos.

To see features of All 3 of these yoyos, blended together, is what modding at a Master level is all about.

I think this Yoyo looks ‘Seriously well thought out’ and if it plays the way it looks; it may just turn out to be Mans’ Best Friend.

    Yup

this is kind of like when the avant garde first came out and there was all that jazz about it being a copy of the volume profile, then people dealt with it, and chalked the yoyo up to what it was. Decent. This is the same thing, just another prominent feature from another amazing throw stuck to the same chassi. I bet you they sell them with glowsticks in the box.

More like a supernova/chief/anythingwithanundercut. Dunno why you guys are combining the zeus and avant garde, both are undercuts, that curvy inner wall reminds me of a nova.

I think this might be the QU4DRO, actually. YoYoFactoryEurope released a video recently with Kojo Boison throwing the prototype or pre-production model, whichever, and it looks like it could be what is pictured above.

Rip off or not, that side shot is really pretty nasty looking. One of the most subjectively ugly yoyos i’ve seen in a while. I bet it’ll play really well, though.

Rant ON! I’ll agree with the last post, this yoyo is UGLY. The avant garde looked nice and had a unique cutaway feature. The Chief is beautiful and has a unique second inner rim design. The Zeus, in my opinion, is a rip off of both designs and looked “OK” but not really great. This thing is trying to do the same thing as the Zeus but it’s more like the ugly second cousin no one really talks to at the family reunion. the cut away plus the second inner rim is just too busy to look good. It’s not as bad as the Zeus since the cut away feature is copying their own design but it’s clear the that the second rim was chief inspired. I guess if it plays well then for some buyers the looks won’t matter. I just get annoyed when one company has a good unique design like the cut away or the second inner rim and then everyone else copys it in the next 6 months. happend with the avant garde, and now it’s happening with the chief. I realize that there is no real way to stop copying of unique designs by other companies but I still wish people would just come up with new concepts rather than just copying the latest new concept from a competitor. Take inspiration from by all means but don’t just copy and paste. for instance take the inner rim design from the chief and change it a little by having that “rim” become a spiral inward to the center of the yoyo, or do the second rim but maybe have that rim extend out farther than the primary outer rim and have it angling inward as though to meet in a point. I don’t know, but just flat out copying a concept bugs me, particularly when the concept is still pretty new and even more so when it’s as unique as the catch zone cut away of the avant garde or the second inner rim of the chief. Rant OFF.

The undercut was not unique to the Avant Garde. Other companies such as 3Yo3 and Henrys have had production run yo-yos with an under cut and Russell Andert had the prototype Muffin Top that never actually saw production. All of these were produced well in advance of the AG.

then it’s a copy of Mr. Bist. My point still stands. who originally had the idea is irrelevant, the point is as soon as an idea makes significant money everyone wants to copy it and cash in.

WoW! They, like Totall-eeeeee stole my design! I am seriously not happy. They Snaked me; Homie!
I was just getting ready to Send one to Sniffy for an Unboxing, and now I am Bummed to the Max.
I worked for years in a Secret Cave on my SuperSlam yoyo. I even all by myself picked out the name. The Chief Avantzeus.
They Ripped Every single amazingly Original Feature off my Almost nearly kinda maybe Patented yoyo.
That’s it. I am done playing. No more Mr. Niceguy. It is time to go to Court; no second option. Legal action against the Entire Clown Posse: YYF,, CLYW,, Bist,, Xela,, Bozo the Clown,, Insane Clown Posse,, CYYC(Thad prolly had something to do with it),, and Crucial(they are always trying to copy something).
As soon as this Avant 2 comes out, I need to buy 3 or 4 of them.. To use as; Uh; Evidence.
And PS; for all those actual ‘finger pointing’ Yoyo Critics; get ready to Eat some real tasty CROW Sandwiches; when you/if you actually discover how Brilliantly, this Avant Garde 2 yoyo plays.
You see; it is not as simple as picking features and putting them together. This is about putting high performance features ‘together and making them work’ ‘Together’. Haters have a tendency to Wear Blinders. They only see what they want to see. Their loss.
As Mo stated in response #6 This is Modding at a Master Level.
And Ugly? Not going to argue with anybody on that simply because 100 yoers might view the yoyos’ appearance entirely different. But I will ask this,’When did High Performance Yoyos have to Win a Beauty Contest’? You guys buying yoyos to Stare at or Play with?

Don’t get wrapped up with how it looks. Trust YoYoFactory to come out with some incredibly striking colorways.

The production of this yoyo was… held up. dont ask me why i dont know, but i found out from a source…

Your source should have also told you, that it is not uncommon or unusual for Most if not All yoyo making Companys to: stop, halt, temporarily delay, take a time out, step back and recalculate, etc., while they dial in their design to Identify the Exact Final Proto they will go with, before they make ‘a few hundred of something’. We all know what happens when occasionally some makers just throw Production into gear and slam out 200 hundred of something or other and then use ‘us’ as field testers; haha. The yoyo: wobbles or the yoyo vibes or the yoyo cuts strings like a pair of scissors or it tilts too easy or too much rim weight.. too little rim weight.. edges too sharp.. too heavy.. too light.. ano flaws.. loose bearing posts.. tight bearing seats.. axle threads too loose.. < You know the Devil is in the Details. Anything short of doing something right is doing it wrong.
Yoyo Makers generally fall into two main categories: Those that make yoyos that end up in boxes for sale and those that slam out some yoyos that end up in the Recycling container behind the shop.
YoyoFactory identifies that Quality High Peformance yoyos are much easier to sell than excuses that result from 'not aggressively addressing every aspect of the yoyo making process. But then again; most folks seldom spend more than one second a day, wondering what causes 'production hold ups' lol.
.. In closing, ladies and gentlemen of the jury; I would reinterate that 'taking the time to get the first one right is a Key element in making the next several hundred copies'. There is an old saying,' People that don't take the time to do things right, have to make the time to do things twice'.
