I stopped the script and have been removing the tweets about the YoYoSkills contest from my Twitter account. Out of curiosity I ran a query on the last 1500 retweets (mine are no longer among them). Over 91% of those tweets were created by only 5 other people. The top person had 40.73% of the entries.

Do with that information what you will.

Hey Dr. YoYo, thanks for the clarification. I really don’t think it was in bad faith. I only decided to write the code after I discovered there were already a few people making hundreds of entries per day. I just figured I’d make it easier on myself…

Regardless, I respect your feelings on the matter and will stop the script tomorrow morning (that machine is inaccessible at the moment). Also feel free to disqualify the entries from that account. I’d also like to suggest that you officially change the rules… Like I said originally, I don’t think one tweet should equal one entry. Maybe you should limit it to one entry per day? Hopefully no hard feelings. I still enjoy the website and wish the best to all the people entering the contest.

While there is no rule against scripting or running multiple accounts, I feel it is in bad faith to do so and it works against the spirit if the contest.

@Austin I don’t think I’m cheating. Unless there are some other rules that I’m not aware of… If you look at my comment above I said that it was too easy to script Tweets and that I didn’t think one tweet should equal one entry. But since nobody disagreed with me, I decided to script my entries. Sure, maybe I’m exploiting a loophole, but I’m not the only one stuffing the virtual entry box. Hey, Dr YoYo… would you please clear this up? You have my email address… Just say the word and I’ll stop entering the contest this way. Thanks.

I have reason to believe….. that Darcy, “buckshot_yyc”…..is cheating.

Does the one with the periods or exclamation marks at the end count as an entry? Like Joe said

Joe, That is Twitter evoking an Anti-Spam rule. You can’t tweet the same thing in a certain time frame.

Love the contest but I’m not sure that every tweet should equal an entry… too easy to script…

Is it just me or is everyone else having trouble tweeting. Everytime I try and tweet it says there is something technically wrong. I have to add an extra letter or exclamation point and then it goes through. ????

I have all the tweets populating a database. The day of the 20th at… say, 12pm PST (3pm EST) I will use a random Number Generator and pick a winner. I will double check to make sure that that person is following me on Twitter, and if so.. WINNNNAAAAA’hhh. I will tweet and post the winner. Next step is shipping. Boom, Done, Happy Birthday!

Seems like a lot to give to one winner. If I win I will spread the love around.
