RecRev REVERB – Delrin Solid Body Looper

Alex Kim sent me these. He calls it the REVERB and it will be a delrin solid body looper. It looks like the internal wall is completely cut out.

I got to try one of these today. Let me just say wow. I like it way more than loop 900s. The inner wall being it out isn’t an issue at all.

When and where will it be released?

there are no problems with string getting caught behind the “wall” area. i’m a bad 2a player so i tend to do sidewinder a lot, and i’ve had no problems whatsoever.

well the flipping motion has a lot to do with the domed area that would normally be the cap. this is less sensitive with milk the cow/punch type tricks and very sensitive with looping tricks.

the flip for loopers are also very contingent on the radius on the OD nearest to the string; i’ve worked out the best possible radius after testing a few different sizes.

people generally do not mind rim weight on a looper. for instance, the raider has more rim weight (ratio; has nothing to do with overall weight) than the loop900. they both loop very well but the raider (on average) will sleep longer for wrap/around the world style tricks. also remember the kaimatachi? maybe not? it’s an older yoyojam looper that featured metal weight rings. the prototypes are among the best 2a yoyos.

Doesn’t more outer and less inner weight mean that it doesn’t flip as well?

Pretty wild design for a looper. Sure hope there are no problems with the string getting all up in the cut-out or wrapping up in it during sidewinders or something.
