By the way, that raffle for the B!ST Stradivari? The winner was a young man named Michael and this was such a huge shock to him. He was a yo-yoer, had visited a few contests, had 20 tickets, and the fact that his number was called….
He was thrilled. Congrats Michael, you are now the proud owner of a B!ST Stradivari!

STRADIVARI! STRADIVARI! STRADIVARI! STRADIVARI! #calstateyoyo

First, I have to set the scene.

I am still getting some sponsor boxes from around the world for Cal States.  ALOT of companies are sponsoring, and they are all being VERY generous.  We got home from my daughters ballet class and there were another 4 boxes on the porch.  I juggle them in, open them up, divide them into the prize bags, and then come to a big envelope that had Italy markings.

I open up the package and out falls a “Competitor” It is that or a legend, still trying to figure that out)

Cool!  Then the smaller package inside falls out and takes a tumble on the floor.

It seemed to flat to be a yo-yo.  But inside were two individually wrapped halves of a very special yo-yo.  Imagine the shock of my wife when whe is putting my daughter to bed, and I start screaming

Stradivari!

Stradivari!

Stradivari!

Stradivari!

That is right, this is B!ST’s Stradivari.  There are not that many of these in the world, and the only one I have ever seen sold was at YoYoGuy.com and it was for $900.

Did I mention that this will be the crown  jewel of the Raffle at Cal States?

HUGE HUGE California State Yo-Yo Championship Sponsor Update

Today I was contacted by a new yo-yo brand called Pocket Pros. They are made by Razor USA, a company known for the original Razor kick scooter.

They have a new line of yo-yos coming out soon, and they were interested in sponsoring the California State Yo-Yo Championship as a Featured Sponsor. What they are offering is big, HUGE news and…. Let me put it this way, things just got real!

As a Featured Sponsor, Pocket Pros will be awarding $1,000 to BOTH the 1a and Open Division First Place winners!

The California State Yo-Yo Championship is HAPPY to announce Pocket Pros as a Featured Sponsor, where on March 6th 2010, they will award $1000 to first place of the 1a division and $1000 to first place of the Open Division.
