YoYoJam Presents: XLR8

Published by:

From YoYoJam’s Facebook page:

The XLR8 is a hybrid model containing a metal body with celcon rims. These celcon rims have an extremely smooth feel on the outer edges, making grind tricks easy. The metal body balances the yo-yo perfectly, which will allow your style to look smoother than ever.

Not only does this yo-yo have the smooth feel inside and out, but also its shape is designed for modern day yo-yoing — low cut walls and rounded rims. It feels just right in the hand. The yo-yo comes stocked with YoYoJam’s Solid Spin Axle system, 10 Ball Speed Bearing, and silicone response to generate a smoother style.

No matter what level you’re at, you can always accelerate your game. Do it now with the XLR8.

Doc’s Review | The YoYoJam H3X

Published by:

Between Andre’s winning charisma and YoYoJams excellent design, the Dark Magic is considered to be a must have “staple” yo-yo for any yo-yo veterans collection.  If you search the forums looking at “What should I buy next?” threads, the Dark Magic is constantly recommended.  The Dark Magic is a classic, and a well-loved one at that.  YoYoJam has often moved to repeat the success of the Dark Magic with modernized takes on the classic design.  Yoyos such as the Meteor and the Trident were lauded for design and play-ability, but failed to capture heavy demand in an already crowded metal yo-yo marketplace.  This time YoYoJam and Andre Bouley bring us the latest spiritual successor to the Dark Magic, the H3X.   Pronounced “Hex”, this yo-yo takes everything you love about the Dark Magic, and modernizes it into an aluminum and titanium hybrid firmly set to make a mark in the yo-yo world.

Included:

  • Poly string
  • Beautifully customized satin lined box

YoYoJam Hex – Andre Bouley’s new signature model (Al and Ti)

A modern successor to the Dark Magic with a ” ‘modernized’ Dark Magic shape – aluminum body with Titanium Rings.” (YYE Blog)

Honestly I am a bit surprised that this one few under the radar for so long.  It drops tonight (19 March) over at YoYoExpert.  With the high interest in all things titanium, I would have expected the Hex to have gotten a lot more attention.

YoYoJam’s Facebook page didn’t turn up anything, but over at YoYoNews, a blog owned by the National Master Andre Bouley himself, they have specs and pictures.

Click for bigger pictures over at YoYoNews.com

Doc’s Review | The Trigger by YoYoJam

YoYoJam excels at making yoyos.  Even more, they excel at making plastic yoyos.  With a long history of fantastic plastic throws, YoYoJam has a continuously set the standard higher and higher.  Many of YoYoJam’s best throws hold the signature of long term YoYoJam team member Johnny DelValle.  JD’s signature throws include the Hitman, Lyn Fury, X-Con, X-ConVict, Hitman Professional, X-Con Professional and the EneMe.  Chances are that one of the yo-yos on this list was in, or is in your collection.  JD and YoYoJam’s latest model is the Trigger.  I got a chance to try this at Bay Area Classic, was intrigued and a few months later there was one on my doorstep.

YoYoJam Bag

Published by:

This looks SOOOOOO COOL! I love yoyo bags. During the last boom, there were yoyo bags, slings, and more fanny packs than you can shake a stick at. Okay, so fanny packs were still a cringe worthy accessory unless you were a pro wrestler, but yeah.

I found this on Facebook. It can hold 24 yoyos and a few choice gadgets. Maybe at Nationals?

Review – The Inspire by YoYoJam

Published by:

There is a very short list of living people who I would geek out on upon meeting.  Stan lee, Mark Waid, Joss Whedon, Paul McCartney, Steve Martin and Bill Murray.  These six legends were and still are a huge inspiration to me.  You might notice that they are all writers in some way , shape, or form.  In my opinion the most important skills a person can learn include the ability to communicate how you feel, tell a story, deliver a presentation and most importantly being able to find confidence in your own words.  Writers inspire me.  In yo-yoing, I get inspiration from all of you guys.  Your comments, negative and positive inspire me.  YoYoJam just released the new metal rimmed yo-yo called the Inspire.  I have heard some people call it the best plastic metal hybrid yo-yo ever made.
